Recently, Dr Zurek developed a lower-face/neck lift
which he calls the Z-Lift. Not only because the incision in front and behind
the lower ear resembles the letter “Z”, but it also coincides with his name.
This procedure involves stable fixation of the Lower SMAS as well as removal of
excess skin. Risk of complication is minimal, with practically no risk of
permanent nerve injury and recovery should only take a few days. It is
performed under local anaesthetic and mild oral sedation, on a “walk-in,
walk-out” basis. It is almost a true “weekend procedure”.
The procedure will give the best results for patients in the mild to moderate stages of aging in the lower face and neck. It can be performed as a single procedure or it can be added to another facelift procedure (eg the S-Lift). It will enhance the result on the jaw line and neck, however it will have no effect on the mid-face. It can also be used to improve the results of other facelifts, as is illustrated in this article.
